- Ilya Shambat (20th century — ). Russian-American-Australian poet and translator. He was born in Moscow, USSR and started writing poetry at age 11. Came to USA at the age of 12. Graduated from the University of Virginia at age 18. Lives in Australia, Melbourne. He wrote a book of poetry, called «Poems to Julia» and translated a few books poetry by Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva, Osip Mandelstam, etc.
