| The Poet's Horse written by William Henry Davies |
| From "Secrets", 1924 |
Come, show the world your mettle now,
Come, come, my horse of wind and fire -
Your Master rides no more alone;
And say, when her young beauty's shown,
Her weight with mine increased your power,
Come from that silver manger, where
You eat the golden corn and hay,
To give her mount, who is my Bride;
Whose beauty makes her fit to ride
Bareback through Heaven, and twice a day!
