Прекрасны идеалы демократий,
    Когда подобен каждый — Королю, —
    Но я определенно не люблю
Разгула нынешних крикливых братий;
Монарх — достоин менее проклятий,
    Чем гнусных демагогов болтовня, —
    Анархией Свободу подменя,
Они уже готовят нас к расплате;
Мне мерзостно, когда над баррикадой
    Возносится позорный красный флаг,
    И хамство правит: под его громадой
Дух гибнет, Честь мертва, молчат Камены, —
    И слышен лишь Убийства да Измены
    Кровавый и неторопливый шаг.
